We are conducting a confidential search on behalf of a well-established, high-volume gourmet market We are hiring a Sous Chef in Livonia, MI for a high-volume, well-established gourmet market and prepared foods operation. This full-time Sous Chef position offers a salary of $60,000–$68,000 plus a competitive benefits package.

Sous Chef Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations in a high-volume kitchen
  • Supervise, train, and develop kitchen staff
  • Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and execution
  • Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and food cost control
  • Contribute to menu development, seasonal items, and prepared foods programs
  • Help drive efficiency and organization in a fast-paced environment

Sous Chef Qualifications

  • Experience as a Sous Chef or strong Kitchen Manager background
  • Experience in high-volume kitchens, gourmet markets, or upscale casual dining preferred
  • Proven leadership and team development skills
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification preferred)
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
  • Culinary degree is a plus, but not required
